The Magic Is In the Work

Week 5: The Grind

ยท Yours truly

Grinding away

You know, I have to be honest, this added workload since I got the client on the side has felt quite good. I started waking up earlier, at around 6 to 6:30 AM, I get started with work by 7 AM, and it feels amazing. I’m just wondering why, you’d think I’d be overwhelmed by all the work, but I’m not. At least not yet.

One thing I am worried about though is how long it’s going to last. I don’t want to wake up one morning feeling burnt out. To prevent that, I am not pushing myself 110%, I still take breaks, and although I am pushing myself, I don’t do it too much. I think this sprint is sustainable for a while. Or at least until the end of the project.

My goals

I am off with my goals regarding the gym and re-reading ReWork. I only went to the gym once this week, and it was a tough workout. I think I cut it in half, and I was still exhausted by the end.

I am still reading and meditating though. How can you skip on reading Golden Son?

What after the project?

Well, after the project I’d like to slow it down a little bit, and work on my projects on the side, without rushing them. I think a big mistake I did is that I wanted to get the projects done as fast as I could and grind them out, but that only adds pressure and resistance.

I recently discovered templ and Alpine.js, so I might do one of my personal projects in those, just to switch it up from JS frameworks and have a bit of fun.

What to do next with the blog

I feel like I want to change the format of the blog slightly, to make it more educational in a way. This just feels like a public diary of my life, which feels like it isn’t very interesting. I want to make it less about me and more about sharing things I learn. I need to do some brainstorming.
